Mission Statement
Smarties Early Learning Center is sincerely interested in providing a safe, nurturing environment for each child while offering opportunities for learning in cognitive, physical, social and emotional areas of development.
PROGRAM STATEMENT
Our primary goals are to promote the development of a positive self-image, help children become enthusiastic learners, and develop a sense of belonging for your child. We believe that building loving attachments, carefully designing activities and learning through play are important vehicles for the social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and language development of children. We will provide a creative, challenging and developmentally appropriate curriculum to foster growth in all these learning areas. Child directed activities and a “hands on” environment will encourage learning and discovery, allowing children to progress at their own rate. These initiatives will enable each child to learn, grow and develop as he/she discovers the world around him/her.

2017 Policies & Contract
Thank-You for your interest in our child care program! We believe that all children are special and unique. It is our goal to provide children with a safe environment that nurtures self-esteem and security. Our program focuses on social and emotional development. In addition, we provide an educational program that promotes learning through hands on play and discovery. We encourage parents to discuss expectations they have for their child. We incorporate a family-centered program as it is important to a child’s development and the happiness of teachers and families working together in the best interest of the child. We are always open to any feedback. It is wonderful when parents and providers communicate together and establish a good relationship.

I have been a childcare provider since 2001. My husband and I are parents of three and are active in our community. Any concerns you have, come to me and I will assist you in any way I can. I am a member of Maine Roads to Quality. I am CPR certified for both adults and children and I have First-Aid training. I am involved in planning fundraisers and family gatherings; if you have any charities you feel strongly about or an idea for a get-together, let me know!
About The Director
My name is Nakita Mondville. I am a Graduate of Central Maine Community College, with a degree in Early Childhood Education. I have been a childcare provider since 2010. I am a member of Maine Roads to Quality. I am CPR certified for both adults and children and I have First-Aid training.
License
We are insured and licensed for 36 children. This center began under my management in February 2013.
Our child care program is semi-structured with individual activities, group activities, supervised free time, and supervised outdoor play. Our activities are child-driven, meaning we follow their leads. In addition to daily activities, we provide a more formal preschool program for children between the ages of 2 years and pre-kindergarten that focuses on early learning skills.
Many of the teachers have a college degree in education or a related field and/ or have many years of child care experience and training. We are family centered and in the Quality for ME program. We use the Maine Early Learning Guideline’s for Infants, Toddlers, and Preschool.
